Rising rapper Kofi Jamar pleaded with Ghanaians not to compare the achievements of young new rappers with those of the country’s top artists, adding that people should have some appreciation for their names.

It comes after netizens began comparing the accomplishments of the young and fast-growing Kuamsi rapper Yaw Tog to the likes of Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, after the official video of his ‘Sore’ remix reached more than a million YouTube views in just four days.

Jamar said that top musicians like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have paved the way with years of hard work for future musicians like them to admire what they have achieved in their early musical careers. So people are supposed to avoid comparing them to the best musicians in the world.

This is what he wrote on his tweeter handle:

Stop disrespecting people like Sarkodie,Shatta, Stonebwoy and the likes just because of an achievement made by we newbies. What we’ve come to see and accomplish is been their years of hardworking and consistency. Let’s put some respect on their names plsss
